Q5 Interface Help

Hello, a senior friend has asked me to explain the user interface of a BB Q5 to him. I find it very confusing and hope one of you can help us along.

Is there a hardware button (combination) to access the telephone function or the address book/contacts?

Is there a way to add short cuts to the very first screen you see when unlocking the device?

Usually that screen shows the time and not much else. We'd like to have a shortcut to the telephone, and another shortcut to text messages (even when there are no unread text messages). And maybe a shortcut to contacts.

Thank you. I'm afraid I did not find anything helpful on those 256 (!) pages.
