    Red Pocket $5/month plan

Has Red Pocket done away with the eBay $60/360 day plan? I cannot access it on eBay at this time.

This was the best smart phone plan for low usage cheapos like me. All good things will have to come to an end.

Interesting that they now make you select the sim type at purchase, instead of sending out all four. I guess it cuts down on waste, but it is nice to have the option to change your mind after purchase.

Ok thanks. It's available if I access with a browser. On eBay android app, it will tell me item has been deleted.

The link provided above works for me, too.

If you're still having trouble, you could try clicking the link for that plan from https://www.redpocket.com/plans/ebay .

I bought this from eBay a few months ago. I have my T-Mobile service on an eSIM and the RP SIM in the physical SIM slot. I wanted a backup with more than just a tiny bit of data, AND you can ask customer care to enable hotspot for free. VoLTE works as well. The only weird thing is that my SIM loses service every so often, a lot less often after iOS 12.4.1 - so I have a feeling it's something with my iPhone + eSIM, not the service. So far so good, I recommend getting a CDMA SIM, the AT&T side of RP doesn't have VoLTE yet.
Castrol EDGE 0W-20 is my drug of choice.

    Primary: iPhone XR
    Secondary: TracFones: iPhone 6s [AT&T] & iPhone 8 [Verizon]
    Mobile Broadband: ZTE Z917 LTE hotspot (5GB for $10) + iPad Mini 4 w/ T-Mobile LTE

Just purchased this plan on eBay over the weekend. Was surprised to get a shipping notice. I thought RP would just send a PIN via email for a renewal/existing sim?

    * Okay, so they sent an activation code via email and a sim card comes separately - even though I don't need one.

A month or so ago signed up a new number on this plan, and they had an option you could choose if you already had a SIM. Maybe it is gone now.
iPhone X is my current primary phone. I have older model iPhones and Moto phones available on other lines. Currently prepaid, though would consider postpaid on right plan.

That's the thing, I selected 'renewal/existing sim'. I originally bought a $10 sim kit with one month of service from their website for initially porting a number in. After the initial month, I'm going to extend with the 360 day plan. Apparently, whether it's a renewal or new line activation, RP/eBay sends an activation code/PIN AND a sim card:

    Welcome to Red Pocket Mobile!
Please keep this email for future reference.

You will need this Activation Code to start your phone service:
    1234567890

Your starter kit includes a instructional flyer and one universal SIM card for your network selection. In order to activate service on your device, you will need to wait for your starter kit to arrive.

If you selected the option for Renewal/Existing SIM, then there is no need to wait! Use your activation code to start service with an existing Red Pocket or Sprint SIM card, or refill your existing Red Pocket number at RedPocket.com/MyAccount. Click here to learn more.

Doea this plan have unlimited 2g data or does it cut off? If it was unlimited 2g it might be useful would to power an iot device or maybe a car GPS running Android Auto.

    It's a hard cap.

I'm actually dealing with the hard cap at this very moment.

One of my relatives uses a RP plan just for Waze while commuting. Her data stopped working. I checked data usage and Waze used 294 MB, a few other small usages such as Google Services and Android OS which I expected... But Play Store used a whopping 131 MB, all in the background, even though automatic updaes are off!

Can I disable background data for the Play Store without ruining the functionality of the device? Had anyone tried?
