Options for Occasional (2-3x per year) Data Plans

My regular plan is a sprint MVNO. Two or three times per year, I travel to semi-remote areas that are only covered by AT&T or Verizon, and I need internet access (3-5gb) while there.

What are some good options for prepaid data plans that I can use while there. I have extra unlocked phones (Moto G4 Plus and iPhone 6s) that can act as hotspots, and I've thought about purchasing a dedicated hotspot.

I thought about purchasing one month at a time of the Red Pocket (ATT) $30 / 5GB plan. However, I'm curious if you have better ideas.

    Thanks!

Suggest preloaded SIM card. $10 H2O SIM on eBay: 1 month of $30 plan (unlim text/talk, 6GB).

Thanks. Do you know if these SIMs work in HotSpots or if H20 allows tethering from an iPhone?
