Never set up voicemail with TF GSM ATT BYOP, now am forever unable to?

Due to me randomly not getting texts/calls(especially calls for some reason, maybe just an app issue itself, it's intermittent) with google hangouts I normally use, I gave my dr and specialist my actual TF number, however if I'm asleep when they were to call to update me on my recent health issues they wouldn't be able to leave me a voicemail. Whenever I hold 1 on my phone, v35, but I suppose that's not relevent, it's via an ATT GSM TF BYOP sum, it just goes to ATT's voicemail. Googling the issue never seems to bring up any BYOP phone voicemail instructions, only TF branded options itself.

Per a thread here circa 2017 I found googling, I changed the voicemail number to my OWN number, however just get a busy signal when calling it. From that sorta long thread I read, people came to the concensus at the time that if you didn't set up voicemail within 60 days of service, you just magically weren't allowed to have it...?

Could I buy an el cheapo TF that used ATT GSM towers, transfer my service to it, set up VM on it, then go back to my BYOP sim a day later as to not "freak out" TF's systems as I had happen when harvesting some cheap yearly ZTE before and trying to go to my byop sim at the time in the same day lol.

If I was supposed to keep the VM number in the settings whatever the default is, oops...it's been overwritten with my own number, am unsure what the original number even was, some 1-877 number iirc.

edit- wish I had set up voicemail, but years ago I had trashy belligerent people texting me when I first got my number years ago, some guy was given the number by a girl, and he was CONVINCED I was some guy the girl was cheating with, it was like trying to talk to a brick wall, sigh....long story short due to trashy belligerent people at the time harassing me I didn't feel like giving them an avenue to talk trash in VM lol.

Ask CS to "re-set" your voicemail. People usually do this when they have forgotten their password, but it might get things working again.

Any phone that uses TF/AT&T service uses the same AT&T voicemail system, whether the phone is TF-branded or BYOP.

When you held down the "1" key on the dialpad and it went to AT&T voicemail system, EXACTLY what did it say?

Well, a good update actually, I just checked the call settings, and the number had been changed from my own one to another number, am unsure if this was the original v35 att VM number or not, but, I held down 1 and it had me set up a password, didn't say anything about ATT at all, so it appears good to go now. Am unsure what fixed it....so I suppose the "60 day" rule isn't a real thing these days if it was at one point.

I did have TF's automated system reset my VM password like twice via text just blindly trying things the other day and maybe that had something to do with fixing it eventually?

The phone number for voicemail is programmed into your phone/SIM when it is first activated with TF service. On my LG Q6 which is using a BYOP TF/AT&T SIM, it is in Settings>Call>Voicemail>Setup, and has +18162250010, which is a Missouri number. I'm in Kansas.
