Help 25 3G Flip Phones that I need activated!

Hi, our business uses Samsung SCH U640 Convoy filp phones.

These flip phones are rugged and dependable.

Unfortunately, they are 3G, so good by PagePlus.

Does anyone know if I get them flashed will "Cricket" or some other MVNO activate them?

Any ideas where to get the flash? (I have CDMA workshop, paid version)

Any help would be appreciated.

No, Non VoLTE devices haven't been able to be activated on the Vzw network for several months now.

I really doubt it could be activated on AT&T. Does it even have a SIM card slot?

There's a very small possibility that they could be modified to work on Sprint, but it's a very small possibility and you'd have to research that.

I'm familiar with that specific model of flip phone. There is no sim card slot on the CDMA version of the phone. It hasn't been possible to activate any device on AT&T or T-Mobile without a sim card since the switchover from TDMA to GSM well over a decade ago. This predates the rollout of 4G LTE by many years, going back to the Cingular days.

Thanks for verifying what I mentioned above about using AT&T and the lack of a SIM card slot.

Hopefully someone with ROM flashing/modification experience will be along that knows if there's any possibility of flashing those phones to work on Sprint. But I really, really doubt that it would be possible, especially considering that Sprint uses a whitelist to put phones on their network.

Unfortunately for rockdude, I don't think there's much of a chance that the Samsung Convoy SCH-U640 flip phones can be activated on any network now.

Might be possible to flash an esn from a sprint compatible device to these. Then they can be activated on sprint until they sunset their own 3g. Using a gusto 2 in this capacity on a sprint mvno at the moment. Never tested mms, but texts/calls do work.

Why would you even go through this? new flip phones are literally $20

Agree totally that this old 3G stuff should be ash canned now before the Verizon CDMA network closes. Sprint is not a good alternative for many anyway.

There are no good options vainly trying to keep obsolete hardware functioning. There are good reasons the carriers want to get rid of 2G/3G technology. It happened before with the close of TDMA, and to a lesser extent with the close of AT&T 2G. Bite the bullet and get the newer stuff.
