    Cricket cut off data

I was at a big event, one of more than 2,500 people, and at times I would get a message on my phone that my carrier has turned off mobile data. My plan had 3 GB of data left for the month, so I ruled that out as a possibility.

Instead of just throttling, is ATT now just turning off data for Cricket customers, when certain conditions are met? If so, that would be very disappointing.

I hadn't heard of this, can you post a screenshot of the message? Was it from Cricket as an automated text or a system message? I'm wondering if it was a system message from your phone, the congestion was so bad that your phone mistook it as no data at all.

Maybe emergency services needed the bandwidth.

This is hardly a situation to get upset about. I doubt the user was singled out by the carrier. If there are more people trying to access the network than the available bandwidth will allow something has to give.

We may never know why it happened.

It was a notification. I have an Android phone. The notification said "your carrier has turned off mobile data." and I confirmed that mobile data was off (not throttled). Eventually it turned on and off multiple times.
