    Locked Phone use of E-sim

    Is it possible to use the e-sim for a different carrier on a dual SIM iPhone if the phone is not yet paid off and hence locked to the carrier. The phone in mind has a physical SIM locked to ATT and I’m wondering whether a Truphone package can be purchased for use on the e-SIM for foreign travel?

    A phone that is carrier locked cannot use a sim from a different carrier. It's no different than a physical sim in that respect.

    Nope. You have to get it unlocked to use any other carrier, physical or eSIM:
