Samsung has two new phones scheduled to come to TracFone at any time now. Both models are already available through Straight Talk. They are the:
1. Samsung Galaxy A20, which has 32GB of internal memory; and the
2. Samsung Galaxy A50, which has 64GB of internal memory;
So, it appears to me that the rant of the OP is a non-issue.
a used older flagship with 32gb+ and doing BYOP is another possibility. V20's are sub-100 bucks I've seen on deals, that thing was 700+ bucks at the end of 2016 and is 64gb +sd slot
Clearly the OP never saw this article about adoptable storage: https://fossbytes.com/android-sd-car...table-storage/ which has been available since Android 6 (Marshmallow).
Don't make me turn this car around.....
The biggest issue is Samsung has disabled adoptable storage. Samsung says it messes with performance. You can find this info on this page: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/t...g/TSG01001474/.
It all depends on the user and their usage habits.
My Moto E4 XT1768 has 13.02GB of 16GB internal storage used.
I have 142 apps and games installed. A lot of them aren't really used much, especially the games, so I'm sure I could trim that down by at least 1GB if necessary. But so far, everything is working as it should, so I'll leave it alone for now.
