I've just tried an AT&T version of the Samsung S21 Ultra and I immediately got the upsell message. So I guess going for a new AT&T phone is a no-go.

I received this text message today. I am currently on $5.99 T-Zone plan. Has anyone else received this same message?

T-Mobile: Action required! With BlackBerry retiring its legacy services, your current data plan will no longer be available after 1/4/22. If you would like to add a new data plan to your account, please call us at 1-800-937-8997

    uh oh...

no, I haven't, though the date you're receiving this for could be tied to one on your original contract. have you ever used a BlackBerry on this account before? The web data on this plan was not tied to BlackBerry's specifically that I remember, because for me I believe it came with a Sony-Ericsson phone. (my T-Zones came with Nationwide Talk & Text, ~2003)

I see now by your past posts that you have used a Blackberry on your account. Have you seen T-Mobile's post on this?

I also received the same text on 12/7.
I never used any BlackBerry on my $5.99T-Zone plan.
Hope this doesn't mean T-Zone will end on 1/4/22

Jan 4, 2022 is the date BlackBerry legacy services will end according to T-Mobile's page. I think that's all this is about. (I hope)

Yes. T-zones is not affected. My iPhone 13 , OpusOne n200 , Samsung A32G are all working fine with T-zones.

While chatting with T-mobile rep to unlock iPhone 13 , she confirmed now my T-zone (Family 1000) has unlimited calls and messages. The T-mobile app also confirms unlimited messages and calls for the Family 1000. So she removed the Message Blocking which was set many years ago while text message was NOT free on T-zones.

Now all my T-zones lines can send/receive text freely on both iPhone and Android phones. ( I did test texting over 50 Text on my three lines, and no charges showing in T-mobile app and website. But I can't confirm the unlimited calls because I never used more than 1000 minutes.)

Seriously? Report back to see if it is good when you receive your next bill.
Last time (2021/1) I was told the same thing year ago. The following bill I got a huge bill for SMS alone for over $90. I had to call T-Mobile to get it to get the money back and block the message again.
Most T-Mobile rep does not know anything about "family 1000 plan" that was defined as $0.20/SMS and $5/min call for roaming on the book. We could get off these for 10 more years.
T-Mobile last year said all accounts with limited data/voice/SMS would free change to unlimited everything, they couldn't keep their promise
