SIM Lock or IMEI Lock - Sim swapping ?

I'm reading some threads that suggest that TF does a IMEI lock married to the SIM ?

I can see how this would be the case for a TF service bundle with phone .

What would be the correct process. Can one just simply do the initial activation with the provided SIM/phone.
Then MOVE the SIM to any of my other unlocked phones.
In month 13, move the SIM back to the ~TF provided phone~ so that phone will get it's unlock ?

Should work. TF sees the devices as active that whole time.

Not sure you have to move the SIM back to request the unlock after 12 months. I've never unlocked a TF branded device.

But you do have to request the unlock. It's bit automatic.

I know Apple does it all in their servers, but Androids typical on need a code and normally need an SIM that is blocked to enter the code .

I have no clue on the unlock - have never unlocked a droid....
Phone's free. It will just in the drawer as standbys. But don't they send the -unlock- to the phone, which I believe won't be sent till month after 12. Hence, why Im saying put the TF sim back into the TF fone to get the phone unlocked

I don't know how TF does it. Might even vary by phone.

Only Android I've unlocked was a Verizon prepaid with a code from eBay.

One or two forum members have had their phones unlocked by Tracfone. If I remember correctly, the phones were unlocked over-the-air, not by entering an unlock code on the phone. Maybe those members will chime in.
