    Cryptic SMS from 780-11

    Came at 2:00pm today:

    [/ //TF 335840160010100810n/a]

I've found one hit on Google also w/exact same number & syntax (doesn't match anything on my phone) asking what it means, but no answer. Anybody know? Is it a hack? Or is it from Tracfone?

Hard to say what it was. Could be a blocked SPAM or could be a network test. Not a message format I have ever seen.
Don't make me turn this car around.....

I use the DuckDuckGo browser, and the results are showing Safelink.

Both the short code and the text message itself.

So it is some kind of Safelink ping or something. I think Tracfone can mess around with the internals of its branded phones. Didn't people report getting unlocks remotely?

I get ads from TracFone with similar format but not the exact same numbers

My guess is TF messed up a promotion text and didn't include the offer. I'm applying Hanlon's Razor here: "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence."
