how did I get this bonus data?

    Hey guys,

I have the 5 GB data plan. All of a sudden the data widget on my phone is telling me I have 9GB. I checked the my verizon app and the is "4GB/mo for life" is now listed.

Exactly how did I get this? I never got any notice I would be getting this. I'm not complaining but I'm just curious.

I recently added autopay. Could that be it?

I have the same plan and noticed the same thing yesterday. I didn’t make any changes either, I think it was just automatically added.

Other people on reddit with the 8 GB plan are reporting they now have 6 GB extra "for life" no changes made.

Link please. I couldn't find it in a search. I'd like to see what they are saying.

I suspect that since data is cheap for the carriers, it is an incentive to keep existing customers from possibly switching.

They could just lower the price of unlimited to encourage them to switch plans? They certainty aren't offering us unlimited plan customers an inceptives to not switch.

This happened to me on my 15GB(8GB + 7GB for life) plan on Verizon prepaid.
I'm supposed to start the month with 15GB. But this month I started with 22GB.

I'm on the 8gb L plan with 2gb bonus and I haven't had a change what gives? Any idea on how to get this, I'd entertain moving down to the 5gb plan with 4gb bonus to save some money every month.

Maybe because you're already getting bonus data.

Good idea. Why not think this a year or so ago when carriers were giving good data to new customers, but unwilling to work with existing customers?
iPhone 11 is my current primary phone. I have older model iPhones and Moto phones available on other lines. Currently prepaid, though would consider postpaid on right plan.
