T-Mobile 5G Data Speeds in West Broward County Florida

    Hello,
Considering upgrading to an unlocked Samsung S20 Ultima 5G when released.
Wondering if there are any TMO users of a 5G enabled phone in either West Broward County or South Florida in general that would share what their 5G (or 4G) data speeds are?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pete

For now, 5G will be a lot like 4G, just with a "5G" indicator. In a couple of years, with the addition of Sprint's band-41 spectrum, 5G will be much faster. My suggestion is that unless you need service in one of the small pockets covered by T-Mobile's mmWave 5G, shelling out huge bucks for the S20 will just be an exercise in frustration. (IMHO, YMMV)

Sorry I have a S9 that is Not 5G capable. Yes we have T-Mobile 5G ( 600 MHz) in Coral Springs ( West Broward Country) but until we get that Sprint 2.5 GHz spectrum it won’t be as fast as what I am getting with T-Mobile LTE. This speedtest was at the Best Buy in Coral Springs near Sample and 441 on 2/21/2020. I have got even better speeds of over 130 Mbps down this month when I was outside. Loved that since my buddy with Verizon had to buy me a Whiskey on our bet since he only had 30 Mbps down next to me. I am waiting on that Sprint spectrum to be added and a price drop. Also I am looking at the new OnePlus 8 that is about to be announced that is a lot cheaper than that S20.

This is what I get at my house. A few miles away. I am not getting that New 600 MHz towers ( 441 & Hillsboro Boulevard). Still the 32 Mbps down is faster than my Comcast broadband at 26.8 Mbps down that cost me more money that my T-Mobile bill. I accidentally forgot to turn off my Comcast WiFi and got only 26.8 down and 10 up, so I had to replete my speed test with WiFi turned off my phone. Tried to delete the picture attachment of the bad test with home WiFi but it still showed up at the bottom. However the slow upload over T- Mobile is what is making me want 5G phone.

T-Mobile 5G Data Speeds in West Broward County Florida

    Hello,

    OP here.

Pulled the plug and went online with a Samsung S20 Ultra on T-Mobile Yesterday.
I was getting an average of 10-12 Mbps with a Samsung Note 10+ on 4G/LTE.
Now getting average of 90 - 110 Mbps on 5G.
Sunrise, Florida - Vicinity of Oakland Park and University Blvd.
FYI - Both phones factory unlocked.

Congrats on your purchase & improved speeds. The camera on that phone looks incredible. The zoom works great even out to 50x.

Excellent to hear. This flies in the face of those who claim that T-Mobile's 5G is always so slow compared to their 4G or other companies' 4G.

Wish I hadn’t read this, since now I want a 5G phone. It is only going to get worse when T- Mobile gets their hands on that old Sprint 2.5 GHz that will make the 5G much faster with deep and robust bandwidth. Op please do me a favor and start mapping with Cellmapper so we can find the T-Mobile 5G cell towers in Broward country. BTW was inside a friends house tonight and ran a speed test on T-Mobile with my S9 and it was 65 Mbps down and around 30 Mbps up. My friend with Verizon and a new Moto cell phone didn’t want to show me his speedtest.

Just take a deep breath and tell yourself that the price of a 5G phone will drop $50 every month you wait.

I agree. I always have good speed with my S9 that is more than adequate speed for anything I use a cell phone for. My S9 is faster and cheaper over T-Mobile than my home Xfinity cable WiFi. However a new phone with a larger screen size for a bigger texting keyboard is another story.

When its down to the <$500 and S40 is coming out... I might be interested.
I have no interest in 'buying now' for technology that for the most part won't be in use 'much' for another year or more.
I typically hit +150 Mbps on LTE here with B4/B2, and some areas + 250Mbps with B4/B2 and B12/71
Adding 10MHz of n71 won't help me much 'yet' as they have it only on a few sites.

I suspect that T-Mobile is (or will be) deploying 2.5GHz much more than n71 in the near future - as there is a LOT more of it - and it WILL be noticable. n71 is fine in suburbia/rural and for 5G kudos to getting it out 'first' attitude.
    AT&T... your world, throttled.

    Honeymoon over.
    Factory unlocked S20 Ultra 5g on T-Mobile.
No 5g signal in or outside my house in West Broward County, FL. for last 6 days.
LTE speeds are the same as for the Note 10+ I traded in.
    No love for early adopters.

Op. Have you tried to do some mapping with the App of Cellmapper.net? I did a little mapping yesterday in the Parkland area off University Drive. It could take a couple of days to show up on the map. However my S9 can’t see 5G but it will pickup Band 71 on LTE. I went in to Cellmapper online and disable all but towers that had Band 71 and did a screen shot. Again this is just the Band 71 towers but does show other bands on that tower.
