Is there a way to delete my phone number from a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S?

I have an old Sprint Samsung Galaxy S that I would like to sell or recycle, but my number still appears.

I did a factory reset but it's still there. Short of activating the phone with a new number, is there a way to delete it?
My smartphone is a lot smarter than I am.

Try a Google search of "remove a phone number from an Android phone". You should see a list of videos explaining the process. Please do not post links on this thread or they can/will be deleted as SPAM.

Do you have the MSL for the phone? If so, then what you're looking to do is a "carrier reset". Type the following into the stock dialer:

    *#*#72786#*#*

You'll then enter your MSL. That should do the trick for you!

##72786# + MSL worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip.
