Dealer: Lucky could stop any day

My friend went to top up her Lucky balance at a dealer in Whitehorse today. They were reluctant to sell her the topup code. "Are you aware Lucky Mobile could stop working at any moment?"

She was told that, months ago, Lucky had announced the end of service in the Yukon. While it was still operating here, it could stop at any time.

Indeed, the Yukon is not listed as a service area on the lucky website (nor is any of the other two territories). My friend, however, has an 867 number with Lucky. So they used to provide those.

    What's the situation?

It's hard to say what Bell with do with Lucky in the future, but my first thought is that the dealer is a crook and is just trying to push your friend onto a higher plan and "while you're at it, why not upgrade your phone too"?

According to my friend, they didn't try any of that.

Maybe put Yukon into the subject heading to avoid inducing heart palpitations?

Does Bell even have a native network in Yukon?

For all you know, ICE wireless who got sued by Rogers, doesnt feel like sharing a whole lot with Lucky Mobile, and only with the big networks since they need those too unless ICE's own SUBNETWORK called Sugar Mobile gets access to the big 3's network as a "SUB BRAND"....
