T-Mobile and Metro customers get unlimited data due to virus

T-Mobile stepping up and helping out their customers:

T-Mobile and Metro customers get unlimited data, extra mobile hotspot in response to coronavirus

    https://www.tmonews.com/2020/03/t-mo...t-coronavirus/

Excellent news. The article also says that, "T-Mo is now offering free international calling for all current T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers to Level 3 countries impacted by the coronavirus. "

(The article contains a link to Level 3 countries)

I posted this in another thread I started but it seems appropriate here -

Dish Network announced that it is providing its entire portfolio of 600 MHz spectrum to T-Mobile at no cost for 60 days in order to bolster wireless capacity during the coronavirus pandemic. A Dish spokesperson said the additional spectrum would help T-Mobile add extra capacity in its existing footprint. .......................

Ookla analyst Milan Milanovic said in order for T-Mobile to quickly tap this spectrum, “It would only require over-the-air reconfiguration, which would widen the existing 600 MHz channels in T-Mobile's network. This could be done late nights. This is assuming that Dish's spectrum licenses have been cleared.”

It also allows DISH to claim that their 600 MHz licenses are being utilized.

Apparently not. The plan needs to have data as given in this FAQ here:

I’m on a voice and text plan, how can I get the UNL data?

You would need to change to a plan that includes data to get the UNL data, to ensure it is enabled. Just dial 611 to speak to Care.
