There are a few Obi200s on ebay for around $40 or so. So instead of re-upping with MagicJack in June, I'll get an Obi200 and set that up instead.

For some fun, I found my notes on setting up my linksys ATA...here is the correct setting (back in 2009):

    daylight saving time: start=3/8/7/2:00;end=11/1/7/2:00;save=1

    and the dialing plan setting: ([2-9]xx xxxxxxxS0|1 [2-9]xx xxxxxxxS0|*123|[49]11)

    those were the days...

What's the link to the Obi200 for around $40 or so? I may be searching wrong, but the only one I see at https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro..._BIN=1&_sop=15 is $39 + $14 Shipping + Tax, and it's listed as Parts Only.

You're right...I did a quick search earlier today, sorted by "low price", and saw the $39...and then went on my way without looking thoroughly. I would have noticed when I do my serious search in a month or so.

Btw, lets not forget the naf firmware for obi's.. Unlocks a few things for the true geek (like ssh), self provisioning (no need to use obitalk), and other features.

There's thread a mile long on dslr.

A small gotcha I want to add to this thread:

I created a new personal gmail account, set up GVoice, got my new number, all fine. But because I have a business partner and we share a GVoice number we call "the support line", I tried to link my new GVoice number to the existing support line GVoice account, and Google wouldn't let me:

"This phone number can't be used to verify a new account because it's managed by Google (e.g., Project Fi, Google Voice). Try verifying with another number."

Ugh! You can't daisy chain GVoice numbers. But it dawned on me that I ported my cell phone number to GVoice a few years ago, and I am able to add my GVoice cell phone number to the support line (google considers a ported number to GVoice different than a GVoice that was not ported). So it looks like I'll need to port a mobile number to my new GVoice number after all, if I want to be able to add it to the "support line" account.
