Never heard of it happening with a Pixel. Happens all the time with iPhones.

It won't be locked to Sprint but they may flag it as financially linked to Sprint so you can't activate a Sprint MVNO with the phone later. If it happens, you'll need to contact Sprint to have that flag removed then you'll be good to go.

so as long as it's not an mvno I could move it?

it's weird sprint is demanding a credit check (at best buy) for opening a new account that does not have a contract, and I am buying an unlocked phone. granted it's at a discount.

As long as they don't send you to Sprint's credit ID department. I tried twice to sign up for Sprint service but couldn't remember things like the model year of a car I junked in 1993. The problems with having a 40+ year credit history.

My favorite is when they asked me a question about an address I lived at when I was 10 (my Dad and I share the same name, so that happens for some reason)... then told me the answer was wrong because the rep did not know how to pronounce it haha
    Verizon: Grandfathered UDP
T-Mobile: Magenta Amplified (airline employee plan)
    AT&T: Premium & More w/ Free 100Mbps VDSL2 "for life"
Sprint: Premium Unlimited (for 100GB hotspot!)

They asked me the age of my sis-in-law, Lisa, and told me I was wrong. Later I realized they probably meant my other sis-in-law, Lelice, but pronounced her name wrong.
