    Testing 5G in Bay Area?

Going to pick up a pizza in Oakley, CA (East Bay Area) and noticed 5G popped up. Didn't notice spectacular speed, but did see it was mixing band 71 and Band 66. First time I've seen band 71 in this area.

Pretty cool. I haven’t seen it yet but hopefully in due time

Also, pick me up a large pepperoni while you are out. National chain of more like mom and pop place?

That’s who I prefer nowadays. The chain pizzas haven’t been good at least in my area.

It was unknown exactly when B71/n71 would be turned on after the small UHF TV stations got off. That is a big wide swath going from the coast to Nevada. 600MHz 5G is not going to make much speed difference over LTE. B41/n41 acquired from Sprint will be much faster. We need B71 in the foothills for coverage. T-Mo sucks here, as you need low-band because of the trees and hills.

well that didn't take long... the main TV channel repack was last Friday. as some of have been saying T-Mo has probably had the equipment already in place for a while.

About the same as 4G on the download, but about 20% faster on the upload.

In my area, T-Mobile only has the low band 600mhz 5G here, the 5G download speed is around 60Mbps vs. LTE over 200Mpbs

Others in SF area are also reporting seeing 5G yesterday https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/com...tm_name=iossmf

So nothing in the Bay Area according to this map.

    https://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/5g-coverage-map

Maybe when iPhone 12 launches they will try to light up some towers.
