    Can't update Samsung A10e

    About two months ago I get a text that said my phone (Samsung A10e) required an update. I can't get this update to occur. It didn't happen automatically. If I try to do it manually, I get an error that says "Unable to update the software. A network or server error occurred. Try again later." Tried numerous times, never works.

    Tried both WIFI only and Data only, neither works. Otherwise, the phone works fine. Security Patch Level says Oct 1 2019.

    Any suggestions on how to proceed here?

    what network is the Samsung A10e using ?? if you have Verizon then you may need an actual Verizon sim. you might try removing the sim card then connect to WIFI and see if the update goes through.

    My Moto G6 updated without a Verizon sim.

    I had to plug in my A10e to get the update to download and install.

    Verizon yes. I'll try removing the and see what happens.

    Plug into what? Your charger? Your computer? Connecting to the charger doesn't help.

    Verizon has a upgrade assistance tool that downloads on your computer to upgrade your phone if the traditional methods fail - https://www.verizonwireless.com/supp...ge-base-80200/

    Thanks for your help but still not working.

    Tried this. Connected phone to computer, connection is in file transfer mode. NEXT button is gray and can't be clicked. Not working. What else can I try?

    Samsung Smart Switch supposedly can do updates.

    Also try rebooting the phone in case that is something.

    The phone has been rebooted multiple times.

    I tried Smart Switch too. That did do an update, but not the security update that the text was referring too.

    Still looking for a solution.

    Now that I think about it, I recall other people getting a text about an update. But it didn't pan out to anything in reality. So maybe the text isn't true or it's spam. But I imagine that the phone is due for a security update, just not the one mentioned in the text.

    When I get an update, it just appears out of the blue.

    Since you mentioned that the upgrade function is greyed out, are you certain your cable has the data transfer option as well as battery charging?

    As was said, make sure the cable connecting the phone to the PC is a data cable and try setting the usb connection type to USB debugging. You will probably need to turn on developer options and then turn on USB debugging.

    FWIW, my daughter has an Assurance Wireless (Sprint/Virgin Mobile) Samsung A10e. I just updated it using WiFi to patch level April 1, 2020.

    I have a Tracfone Galaxy A10e here, and it is says it up to date. The Baseband version is S102DLUDS3ATA1 with security patch level from February 1, 2020.
