Verizon charging for texts all of a sudden?

I just got charged $16ish for texts from last month, out of the blue. I am on the Small 2GB plan. I haven't been charged for a text in what feels like a decade...

Anyone else have this happen to them? Their business hours are not open ATM so I'm asking here.

I'm on the basic 2GB small plan. Never had issues with text charges. I just bought the iPhone SE from Walmart, only change, at the end of the month (April), received but not yet activated.... No plan change

Looks like a billing issue. You can iMessage them for support, which I recommend because it’s not only far more convenient, but also has shorter wait times because most people don’t know about it. Make sure to ask for a bill credit for your trouble.

Typical verizon trying to squeeze as much as they can from their customers.

Have to agree with VVivian about a likely billing error. Until the OP reaches out to CS for clarification and lets us know, we can only guess. No need for conspiracy theories.

Agreed. Looks like a billing system error. It doesn’t even look like international messages or premium messages, looks like regular texts that the billing system accidentally charged that customer. I’m sure he’ll get a bill credit once he reaches out. Chat, Twitter/FB and iMessage are better CS channels than calling

Yup. Pay per use text pricing used to be like 20 cents a message. I suppose if some "unlimited text" code is left off it still defaults to that
