    BBB (NAD) Takes Issue with Verizon’s 5G Advertising

    This morning, the BBB’s National Advertising Division (NAD) told Verizon to stop claiming that it was “building the most powerful 5G experience for America” and recommended that the carrier make clear and conspicuous disclosures to consumers about the limited actual availability of its 5G network.

    “The Internet wasn’t meant to be metered in bits and bytes, so it’s insane that wireless companies are still making you buy it this way. The rate plan is dead — it’s a fossil from a time when wireless was metered by every call or text.” John Legere 1/5/2017

    I believe the carriers work with NAD to self-police each other.

    A couple of years back T-Mobile claimed they were the: “best,” network for unlimited. ATT took issue with that and reported T-Mobile to NAD. T-Mobile subsequently replaced the word: “best,” with: “fastest.”

    Looks like ATT was the one who complained. Go figure!

    I agree...
    2G = GSM
    3G = HSPA
    3.5G = HSPA+
    4G = LTE
    5G = Actually 5G

    Aside from switching phones that were on LTE to a 5GE icon, did they ever actually advertise it? Like get on the most advanced 5GE network? If so AT&T has no shame in lying to an entire nation and fines should be imposed.

    That's like me saying my gasoline powered card is EV-A for Electric Vehicle w/ an Alternator. EV my ***.
