    zombie minute usage

I activated a 2 ATT BYOP sims in February (1200/1200/3gb) Ive never placed the sims in a phone yet (still in sealed retail packaging), but when I logged onto my Tracfone dashboard 1 sim shows 1199 minutes remaining, the other shows 1187 minutes remaining. What gives??? When I contacted support chat, they said their was usage, but wouldnt give details.

Anyone have any inkling where these minutes went?

Some "shady" gas stations in small towns rig their pumps so you won't get a full gallon when the meter shows 1 gallon. Maybe TF is doing that too

There have been problems with the preloaded SIMs. How can Chat see usage when there is no associated phone number? I would call corporate. I think a supplier has been messing around.

Ask them to supply a list of calls made/received.

Hope they are still sealed. That would be the perfect way to present them to the BBB if you have to file a claim against Tracfone.
The BBB could then back up your claim if you needed to contact the FCC to file a claim.

Tracfone has never provided a detailed call log. Is this worth the effort for 14 lost minutes out of 2400?

That's up to the OP. I know I wouldn't bother.

A few more minutes have been siphoned off each SIM. According to "tracfone execuitive care" their system deducts minutes for calls that go to voicemail, because the system sees them as a forwarded and answered call. Ive never setup voicemail, but apparently with ATT based sims there is a default mailbox setup. Apparently I was assigned recycled numbers that receives numerous robo calls. Crap policy if you ask me.

You can request a new number if you haven't given it out to everyone already.

I think someone fed you a load of B.S. because minutes are not deducted for calls answered by the voicemail system. My phone is on TF/AT&T. I just did some testing. Got a screenshot of my balance, put my phone in airplane mode so calls to it would go to voicemail, called it from another phone and left a 5-minute voicemail, turned my phone back on, got the voicemail notification (but didn't retrieve it), checked the balance again, same amount as before the test.

I had the same problem with Tmobile prepaid. The phone number got on a spam caller list. After a certain number of calls to voice mail, minutes got deducted. I changed the number, no more problem.
