    Voicemail Service Number changed?

I used to live in New Mexico, and recently moved to the Seattle area. In NM my "Service provider" for voicemail was a number in Phoenix (area code 480). But once I got a local Seattle area number, the "Voicemail Service Provider number changed to a area code in the North suburbs of Seattle (area code 425).

I know this sounds likes a stupid question, but why the change in "service provider" numbers for voicemail?

There are multiple voicemail systems located in different regions of the country, each with a unique service number. Changing your number to a different region would move your voicemail box to a different system.
