No unlocked A01 for the US :(

I like Samsung but not the price. I heard about the new A01, but had a chat with the online rep and learned there were no plans to sell an unlocked version in the US.

Time to start shopping for a used S8, I guess

If the phone either lacked the required frequencies or failed to get FCC approval it could have been unnaproved for sale in the US. I don't know why it wasn't. From the Phonescoop.com internet site, it looked like it was planned to be sold on At&t, Verizon, T-Mobile at the estimated price of $101.
    Just another day in paradise.....

Yes, AT&T prepaid website lists it for $115. I may have to switch carriers again

Sorry if I missed the "unlocked" part of your original inquiry. Unfortunately, that issue would be between you and the carrier. In the US, even on prepaid, you are required to keep the device active on a plan for a minimum period before they will unlock the device themself.

Right. Which is why I wanted to buy an A01 in factory-unlocked state. It appears the only way to do this is to buy the "Latin America variant" sold by B&H.
