Question Can I use the Ebay $49.99 card to add service to my existing TF phone? Are there other options?

I wasn't paying attention and my service expires in 10 days as TF politely reminded me today.

What would be the best option to get more time? I have plenty of minutes, but I can use more data and texts.

I was thinking to get the Ebay $49.99 card, but I'm not clear if I can apply that one to an existing phone or if it's only for new clients.

I've out of the TF loop since I gave the TF to my son and got a Red Pocket for me.

    Thanks!!

If you are amenable to a new phone, it's actually a better deal to buy a package that includes a phone plus airtime. These packages are available at Tracfone's official eBay store, HSN, and QVC.

The item you are asking about is a preloaded SIM. It gets a little complicated if you want to use it with a Tracfone branded phone. It's a BYOP SIM like how Red Pocket works, I believe.

What about the years service only option that people can buy at the TF website?

49.99 for the years service only (no airtime), it may appear if you pick an add on like 1000 texts for $5 or 1gb data for $10. Or talk minutes, I think 500 minutes for $10.

You go to their refill page and choose the add on and see if the 49.99 offer appears.

I did the 49.99 years service for one of my phones. I think I chose the text add on for it and the 49.99 deal appeared.

    Unhappy

I was trying to get the one year extension, but I was unable to get it to show and the other option is to get the year service for something like 80 or 90 after taxes and fees. That's why I was wondering about the Ebay one.

My phone is a BYOP, not a tracfone one.

How difficult is it to get the Ebay card to add to my existing service?

    Thanks!

You don't get a traditional card. That's the problem. You get a pre-loaded SIM. So you have to effect a transfer from your current SIM to the new SIM. All of the airtime will end up merged together on the new SIM.

You should go on Chat, ask for your current balance for safety, and have the agent transfer your balance to the new SIM. It's simpler if the old and new SIMs use the same underlying carrier to avoid a porting situation.

The Tracfone e-Bay store has an assortment of phone bundles for $50, $60, and $70 that comes with the 1500/1500/1500/365 days

1 year add-on in the cart is only available for TF branded phones.

Would that be easier? Would you get a physical card if you buy a phone?

    It's still a pre-loaded SIM.

They like to do it that way to save money I guess.

I've bought two of the phones with year's service off of TF's eBay store, the 49.99 Moto e5 and the LG Solo for 59.99. The free shipping makes it an even better deal. If all you want is to transfer the minutes, then the rest of the package doesn't matter much unless you want to use the phone. The phone numbers I got with new activation are spammy but the phones themselves are new and I like mine. The e5 is a respectable phone and a great deal at 49.99 if you do want to use it.

I believe all these come with a Verizon SIM card, preloaded with the bundled airtime. All you have to do is transfer service off the old phone to activate the new phone and the airtimes will combine. Try the new phone to see if you like it compared to the BYOP. Before the transfer /activation come back here for tips on the current safest way.

You are running out of time and may have to add the $15 airtime card 500/500/500/30D before running out of days. Best NOT let the days run out. There is the $10 airtime option but you may only be offered face value, 30/30/30/30D rather than doubling or tripling.

I have a Moto e6 (unactived Straight Talk version) and I really like it. I'm not tech savvy but it's a good size and nice screen. I have it as a backup for in case one of my TFs fail and need to activate with a transfer. The 3000mAh battery is removable and I like that because at least can salvage it if the phone breaks.

Actually, I just purchased one that is AT&T from the tf ebay store. I expect to activate it with my current AT&T sim and combine buckets and then just use the new sim. I will never sell or give away that phone so there is no problem I can imagine doing it this way. I'll report back with results.
