    Do the new and old phone use the same carrier? If not, the number has to be ported cross-carrier and it's a manual process. DON'T start a cross-carrier transfer in the weekend or before a long holiday. the port dept may not be available.

    Yeah the porting department may take up to 48 hours for it to transfer. In the mean time I am assuming the new IMEI / MEID is in your account now ?

    I think they both use the same carrier Vz ( S6 / Moto G7).
    What surprised me, is that both agents left the chat, and leaving me under the impression that I was going to receive a call to fix the problem... but the call never came.
    This morning I found everything working.
    I think from now on I will stick at doing my activation directly without the help of TF.

    The sure way to tell is to look at the SIM number. The first 5 digits of a SIM identify which carrier it's for:
    * 89014: AT&T
    * 89012: T-mobile
    * 89148: Verizon

    I think your two phones use different carriers. A same-carrier transfer often takes place instantly because there's no porting involved.

    Yes you're right: the S6 was ATT and the moto is VZ
    So that's what they (TF Agents) mean when talking about PORT (ING)...
