    Mint Mobile adds unlimited

Just saw on the Mint Mobile site that they now are offering ‘unlimited’ for $30/month for a 3 month plan.

Also in fine print the data slows after 35GB.

Great deal on the surface, but in addition to a 35GB LTE limit, they also limit the hotspot allowance to 5GB and video to 480. At least those were listed as limits when I logged in to change my plan

It’s not just you, the 5gb hotspot is a limit of this plan.

Any idea what it reduces to? I hope it's not tmobile's awful <64kbps.

Closer to 64 for me. I have problems loading Twitter or HoFo apps when I’m out of LTE.

Thanks, disappointing. I wouldn't mind if it was like 10KB/s at least so I could load askreddit posts, but whatever tmobile does, it's this weird artificial shaping where there's so much packet loss and you barely get 1-2KB/s that you literally cannot even load text.

Agreed. On the upside, the Mint packages are done in a good way too: 5GB is too small 10 too much, 8 just right, except when I don’t have good access to WiFi.

I had a chance to play with an s20 ultra on a post paid account. 5G and all it's glory. I wasn't too impressed. In my immediate area speeds were ~20-40 mbps in either direction. Nothing to write home about. Perhaps some areas are better tmo areas than others.

Same experience here, in my limited area.
My friend and I both have S20 5G phones. I'm on Total Wireless (VZW) and he is on T-Mobile "5G". I get better speeds on LTE than he gets on "5G".

If you have an American Express card (with the offer) you can get a $45 statement credit when spending $90+ at Mintmobile. Which just happens to be the price of the new unlimited plan for 3 months. I got the offer on my Amex Blue Cash card so I'm going for it.
