    Google Voice gone Goofy?

I got a notice of a missed call on GV. I was at home, with 3 cellphones set on GV plus my landline, all set to ring. I went to check, using my chromebook, and there was a notice on GV page to "refresh the page in order to make a call." I did this and the noitce came back. I tried to call GV from one phone to another, no luck. I tried to call from my chromebook, no luck. I got a message (somewhat clipped)about press '*' for voicemail or press 'one' to make a call. I then had my wife call from her cell which is not linked to GV and the call came through. ?? Ideas??

Sometimes if the caller hangs up right after dialing, it's time enough to trigger GV that a call came in, but not time enough for the linked phones to receive the call. Or the phones might get the signal, but not time enough to ring. There is a lag while things line up.

    Check the various call logs.

I got this notification earlier. Not sure why.
    Never seen it before.

But GV still works normally as far as I can tell.

I got that notification in my status bar too right after installing the latest GV update. Never seen it before. Haven't noticed any changes with the way the app behaves. I don't use the app for calling much; mostly texting. People call me using my GV number and I take it over cellular (forwarded over Linked Number). Therefore probably some coding glitch that most will see with this version.

That seems to be referring to the settings that determine whether calls from the phone's native dialer go through GV or use the native cell number. It's possible the update reset those settings - or else they could be trying to get you to change them.

A few days ago I was seeing a notice in GV that said something like, "Update your GV app. Otherwise calls from your dialer may not use GV". After afew days I updated the app. All seems fine (I have set it up so the dialer uses the GV number, but I never place calls that way).

Could be. Maybe you can now use the dialer to call using GV over wifi/data and not just cellular.

Have to test later. A quick test just failed in airplane mode w/ wifi on, telling me to exit airplane mode to make a call.

But I did notice it switching from the phone dialer to GV.
