Data Rollover

Does data roll over every month and just accumulate until used or does some drop off or expire after a while?

From the At&t Prepaid internet site:

Unused high-speed data rolls over to next month.

Just how long they rollover remains available is not specified, but I think the unused data is only available for 30 days. If I am incorrect, I am certain others will confirm the policy.

The rollover data does not accumulate. It is good for 1 month.

As mentioned above, any rollover data is only good for one more month.

Also, keep in mind that in at&t twisted evil mind, they make you use ALL the data allowance for the current month first before tapping from any data rolled over from the previous month.

What would be the point if the unused data is only good for 30 days after the cycle date ?? Seems logical to use the current month's data first before using the rollover data.

You just said it. Unused data is only good for 30 days. So in any given month you would have:

Roll over data from previous month, expiring at the end of THIS month
Data of this month, expiring at the end of NEXT month if rolled over

What would you rather use first? I'd say the one that is about to expire first! Think of two gallons of milk with different expiration dates

This at&t trick prevents users from fully benefiting from the data rolled over unless they use BOTH the whole current month data allowance (first) AND then all the rolled over data.

If I could do the opposite, I wouldn't have to use ALL my data for the current month if I don't need to and still take full advantage of the rolled over data from the previous month. Any data left for the current month would be then rolled over to the next one and so on (and any data left unused from the previous month would be expiring as expected but in a more fair way).

Rollover has been done this way for more than decade, if not longer. I remember as a CS rep for At&t that users having thousands of Rollover voice minutes or megabytes of data that they never used. Eventually an expiration time frame was established and is not likely to change back. You don't have to agree or like it, but that's how it works.

I don't think anybody's main critique is about the expiration of rollover. 30 days is fine. The issue is which bucket (last month's leftovers, or this month's allotment) gets dipped in first.
