Very interesting. I too don't live in CA. In my case, the above amounts were $3.99 ... see my previous post for more context.

@fstuff, do you have a top-up balance on your account?

Well, the one FP free plan SIM that I kept did renew with the expected $3.99 charge. I think someone else mentioned it here or somewhere else, but my $3.99 charge was also just $3.99 total, so at least that's nice.

I did get 45MB Freedom Friends bonus, for a total of 395MB. I expect that Freedom Friends bonus will keep dwindling, as more people cancel their FP SIM accounts. A number of my previous Freedom Friends were from my own 8 other FP accounts, for which all 11 associated SIM cards have now been cancelled. But obviously I had other Freedom Friends, too, since I still got the 45MB bonus this month.

So now I have 2 legacy FP SIM cards and 2 legacy FP accounts remaining:
1 former free plan SIM account, now on the $3.99/mo Essential LTE 350MB plan, with a leftover $19 top-up balance
1 1GB/mo annual prepaid SIM account

The former free plan SIM account seems to have kept the Global Free 100 free add-on, at least for now.

Did your billing information reflect the pending $3.99 charge prior to renewal?

This is what mine currently says:

    Billing Overview
    19 DAYS
    BILLING DAYS LEFT

    Next Payment Amount US$0.00
    Next Payment Due Date 5/31/21
    Recurring Bill Amount US$0.00

No, it did not. It reflected $0 for the upcoming (now past) renewal, but actually charged $3.99, as was announced in the email.

Thanks. I guess I will be canceling my last SIM at the end of the month.

    oh that sucks.

    Next Payment Amount US$0.00
    Next Payment Due Date 5/28/21
    Recurring Bill Amount US$0.00

guess i'm canceling before my 5/28 renewal.

Did you have a regular (not virtual) credit card in your account?

I have PayPal but I cancelled the PayPal auto payment on my PayPal page. I wonder if they’re going to be able to charge the $3.99.

    My upcoming also shows $0.

That is in contrast to post at https://www.howardforums.com/showthr...6#post17175056

But the bottom line is, the end result was / would have been the same: $3.99/mo for the FP Essential Plan.

Something interesting to note is https://support.freedompop.com/hc/en...VoIP-Free-Plan says: "...Essential Plan which offers 350MB and 200 minutes / 200 texts for only $3.99/mo."

But my actual online account for my one FP Essential Plan shows 200/500/400 (350MB+50MB Freedom Friends) (I gained some additional Freedom Friends since my initial FP Essential Plan took effect where I only got 45MB bonus).

I'm not sure why there's a discrepancy in the 200 vs 500 text allowance, but in my case, I'm using the SIM for data only.

But I think 400MB/mo, including 50MB/mo from Freedom Friends, on the AT&T network, is still pretty decent for $3.99/mo.

Yes, it is a regular credit card. I never did use virtual CCs.

To answer your question, I doubt it, but that's just a guess, so do what you think you should to avoid the $3.99 charge, if you don't want to move to the FP Essential plan.

I think I have a Unite here, and I'll test it once the migration completes.
have you had a chance to test whether the new freemium sims work in the old Unite hotspots?

To clarify: my renewal date was 5/3, pretty early in the process. My Next Payment amount showed as $0 until sometime during the final 24 hours before renewal-- I checked it sometime in the evening of 5/2, and at that point it showed the anticipated $3.99 upcoming charge. Shortly after midnight, the charge did take place.
My Tello referral code is P3BSR5HV, and gets both of us 10 Tello Dollars to pay for a plan.

My apologies, Boz1 ! I had read some reports that the conversion to the Premium SIM on my prepaid annual/1GB might take a week, which would have overlapped my monthly 'renewal' date. I didn't want to add that into the mix, so I put off the process. I'm still using that legacy SIM daily. Busy at work with coming out of covid restrictions, and I haven't made time to do the footwork/shuffling to make sure a delay in the transfer won't leave me without a working phone.

Fed up with the app not loading for over 2 weeks. How hard/easy is it to port out, to keep my FP phone number, moving it to a more stable company?

If you dont want to pay for the new sim, will they take away your FP phone number?
