    Stupid 5G Question

I plan on buying the new iPhone 12 (?) when it becomes available, and expect it to be 5G ready. I have used esims for my primary line since the XR.

Will I need to do anything to get 5G service on an esim line?

I've heard two related answers to this question. The first is that you don't have to do anything; 5G is included and capable phones will make use. The other answer was, that T-Mobile is offering new SIM cards for 5G and they can be swapped, free of charge. I haven't heard anything regarding eSIM.

T-Mobile told me that ESIM has to be done in-store? I figured it could be done with a tech on the phone? I was planning on Switching to T-Mobile before my next billing Cycle is due

In store if you don’t know what you’re doing. You can easily call or text T-Mobile and ask to swap you sim to the ESIM EID number. Give them the long number. After which just make sure you’re on WiFi then scan the QR code to add it to ya phone.

Only reason to going in store is the Magenta Unlimited 55+ Plan. That is to physically see my ID to get that plan at their discounted price
