Well, that certainly won't be good for T-Mo postpaid customers! Where has that been announced?

I'm considering switching from Boom to Mint

I have an unlocked Verizon phone on Boom and am happy with the carrier.

I spend $300 a year and get 1GB per month

If I switch to Mint I would pay ~$200 a year and get 3GB a month

But Boom has me on Verizon towers (I think) and Mint uses T-Mobil towers.

So I guess these 2 carriers have 4 bands in common.

    Will that be ok?

I am new to all tases details

    Thanks

    Do know how that works?
I did buy it but am confused about how to use it.
I put the SIM card in and have to change some APN settings and get a new phone number.
If I don't like the service I would put my old SIM back and change the APN's back?
I am afraid I might screw something up.
    I guess I could take a picture/screen shot before I change anything

    so its that easy
once I activate it on the computer, I just put it in the phone and it will work?
So if I don't like it, I just switch the SIMs and walk away?

I watched some YouTube video and they mentioned changing APN numbers and it scared me

As long as your phone is TMO compatible and unlocked to use the TMO bands, it will work.

If your phone is locked to Verizon, Mint Mobile will not work.

The difference between Vzw and T-Mo coverage MIGHT be dramatic, depending on you location.

In addition to that, using a phone without all the current T-Mo LTE bands has not been advisable.

Finally, as of 12/31/20, T-Mo will have certain requirements to activate a phone on their network. However, if you already have an active SIM by then, it might be okay...but do some research.

The bottom line is, T-Mo still has worse coverage in some areas than Vzw, and without a phone fully compatible with T-Mo, the experience could be even worse.

True, but a bit too generalized regarding coverage. In my metro area T-Mobile is better than Verizon as a rule of thumb. Agree that a phone with the correct bands for a carrier results in a better experience.
Trying to come up with some sort of signature line...

I have also been considering Mint. From what I have read so far, experiences with mint really depend on the region. In metros where the T-Mobile network isn’t too terribly congested then service with mint is fine but in areas with a lot of congestion data service for mint users is atrocious to the point of being unusable.

Go to Mints website , and activate the sim card with the numbers on the card , they ask for Zip code so they can give you a local number....

Then put it in whatever unlocked phone or tablet you want ,

Thanks; I'm trying to understand this more clearly.
So you say that with Mint, the user can just use the website to activate the SIM card, and then just puts the SIM into the new unlocked smartphone,... and that activates the cellular service and the use of the smartphone with Mint? At some point in the process, need or no need to give Mint the IMEI number of the smartphone?

Interesting! Really interesting! Mint Mobile is one of the few choices I am considering for when/if I return to smartphone user.
