Is Umidigi A7 Pro still the best bang buck phone?

Now that mint Mobile's new 3month + 3free deal requires a IMEI not used within the past 3 months, it gives me an excuse to upgrade my Moto E4 (Android 7).

    Umidigi A7 Pro 128gig version $109 at sunsky-online.com.

This still the best deal out there without jumping through hoops?

I got one of these for my lady, and she's satisfied with what it does for her needs. You'll likely never get any security updates, and the device occasionally has weird freezes (her complaints), but it works just fine and is compatible with all but Band 71 for T-Mobile, so it should be good to go on Mint Mobile for a while. It's not a perfect phone, but it's a good buy for around the $100 mark.

Depends on if your area is rural or not. If you're in a mostly urban and/or suburban area, it's mostly fine. However, your mileage may vary. That's a bigtime band on T-Mobile these days, but that's literally the only T-Mobile band this phone is lacking. We haven't noticed any major lack of quality coverage, but we're in a suburban area.

Since he posted not to expect any security upgrades, I wouldn't plan on getting OS version updates either. You are buying the phone, AS IS.
iPhone 12 Pro is my current primary phone. No plans to upgrade plan to 5G.

Highly unlikely. One of the trade-offs to getting these phones is that you'll likely never get updates. I've gotten a couple of small patches before, but never any major OS revisions.

If I were to ever get a Umidigi, I personally would get one of the models with band 71, such as the F2 (and some others), and one with at least Android 10 (I haven't checked to see if any currently come with 11). That's just my opinion.

    Uggg.. the f3 is $175.
I'm looking for a cheap Android 10 phone to hotspot mint.

    edit:
i'll even take a cheap hotspot device that works with mint instead of a new phone.

I've owned four Umidigi phones over the last few years. I've never had any major problems on any of them, but you're giving up a couple things when you buy these. Software updates is one, but my other complaints would be the less than stellar camera software and the occasional freezeup. I don't think the software is optimized much. There's also no warranty support since these are technically imports (though you can get extended warranties through sites like SquareTrade). If these aren't deal breakers for you, you'll find significant value with Umidigi devices.

That being said, if you want good value phones with great software support, I hear that Realme devices support their phones well, though I've never used one and can't say for sure.

If you are using it as a hotspot, does the version of the os really matter?
