What should be done with the IMEI of a defective or at least, cellularly inactive device, been out of service for more than four years? Is the IMEI of any further importance in any way? Should IMEI be reported as being permanently unavailable or what?
No idea, unless it's to blacklist. Some people have been known to change the IMEI of a blacklisted device to make it "clean" again.
