Verizon Prepaid Service with no Data Plan monthly fee?

After perusing the Verizon site, it appears there are no Prepaid plans that allow for cellular phone use only with no monthly minimum "Data Plan" charge. T-Mobile coverage is so sketchy in this location, they may be the first to retro-convert from a cel phone back to a land line.

Said (non-smart) phone is used by my Grandparent and does not allow internet access, so not much need for a data plan of any sort. Why buy a Battleship to fish in a small lake if a Jonboat will do?

If I missed this "Prepaid phone service with no data plan" option on Verizon's site*, please post info. or a link.

If they don't need unlimited talk and text, there are Verizon MVNOs that cost a lot less.

Verizon in the past had another prepaid plan type at a much much lower price; but is no longer offered today.

The other thing with T-Mobile is you NEED a phone with Band 12/71 if you are going to use them.

iPhone 7 (what's listed in your profile) only has Band 12, and they do not have that "everywhere", but B71 is pretty much everywhere. You're going to want to try a newer phone with ALL of the bands. I have an iPhone 12 and never have an issue with service traveling all over the country for work.

Also, for Verizon proper.. your best bet is either something like RedPocket ($20/mo unlimited and 3GB of LTE) or if you have Spectrum or Xfinity, just do a "by the gig" mobile plan and pay ~$15 for unlimited talk/text/1GB of data on verizon's network.

PP used to be the cheapest and my "go to" for cheap monthly Verizon, but now RedPocket is by far the better choice.

Look on eBay at the Red Pocket annual plans. 1000 min/mo talk, Unltd text, 1 GB data for $99/yr. Doesn't get cheaper than that unless you use under 100 min/mo talk and then 100/100/0.5 for $60/yr. And you can get it on any carrier, including VZ.
