Basic plan for Smartphones

Is it possible to purchase a basic plan for a smartphone? I am trying to redeem some points for a 90 day basic plan. I don't need t/t/d just service days. When I enter my number it says plan not compatible.

If your smartphone has Triple Minute For Life (TMFL), it'll let you buy either Smartphone Plans or Basic Plans.

My main phone is a BYOP smartphone on TF/AT&T, but it started out many years ago as a TF-branded LG840G with TMFL. The TMFL was carried forward when I upgraded to a TF-branded ZTE Valet in 2013, to an LG Ultimate 2, then went BYOP starting with an LG Phoenix 2 in 2016. It let me buy a $19.99 Basic card with points (although I didn't complete the transaction).

Go to TF web site-->Shop-->Airtime/Plans. Enter your phone number. If it shows you both Smartphone and Basic Plans, then your smartphone has TMFL.

Was the LG Fiesta 2 a TMFL phone?

I have an old one that I never used or activated. One of the reconditioned ones I believe. I decided to activate it for first time (issued phone number) for referral points the other day. I set up a separate account for it with no connection to me other than the referral.

It does get offered the basic plans and they're tripled on site/app.

Did you check to see if they are offered on the My Account app?
If there it would show up under Buy Plan -> Pay-As-You-Go Service Plans

Basic plans shows up before I enter my number.
