Tello's front page today says that GSM (T-Mobile) service is now available.
New activations appear possible on GSM only.
The BYOD test page accepts my GSM-only phone, and offers a SIM for $9.99
The BYOD test page accepts my CDMA-only phone, but notes it can only be swapped into an existing (CDMA) line.
It appears that several other pages with plan details, etc., have been refreshed in layout, but indicate all the same features that were previously available.
Same build-a-plan structure.
2G fallback on plans including data.
Unlijmited sms on monthly plans.
No changes visible on PayGo features.
My Tello referral code is P3BSR5HV, and gets both of us 10 Tello Dollars to pay for a plan.

Interesting no mention of 5g.
Looks like its live only for new customers and existing customers will need to wait for a notification from Tello to be migrated over. I really want to get a new Tello SIM and migrate over ASAP.

I noticed something strange. Existing customers currently don't have prompts on their account, but if you login and put in the IMEI of an active Tello phone that is compatible with GSM on the BYOD page - it allows you to order a GSM SIM for free. I'm tempted to try it to get migrated over, but was wondering if anyone else tried that trick yet - I don't wanna jump the gun and mess something up.
Does Tello provide nano SIM sized SIM cards, or only micro SIM?
It looks like the new gsm sims are tricut:
SIM type: Punch out SIM card
Form factor: Mini SIM(2FF), Micro SIM(3FF), Nano SIM(4FF)

I didn't expect to find a way to order the SIM for no cost in this thread. Ordered!

Is this CDMA/GSM thing still relevant? Haven’t these networks been shut down like 5 years ago?
Yes, I also called because I was wondering if it was a glitch or if it would mess up the account if one were to "rush" the migration this way.
The rep said that existing customers with compatible devices may go ahead and rush the migration through to BYOD page and get their FREE GSM SIM card.
At first she said she flagged my account so the SIM would be FREE, but I was playing around with it today before the call and it was already FREE.
Though the rep said the exact process is as follows:
Login to My Tello
Go to the My Phone page
Click on "Bring a new phone" (This will take you to the BYOD Page)
May want to make sure that the phone is compatible with the new GSM Network and there's coverage where you use it.
Just make sure the order is for a GSM SIM, which will be listed both on the BYOD Page and the Order Pages:
It will not change anything in the account except the network once one goes to activate the new SIM.
Also did notice this in the process:
"GSM compatible: YES
This phone can be used for new line activation or replacement for an existing Tello GSM line."
I went ahead and placed my order, did you?
So, what are the main reasons these days to switch to Tello? I just disposed of a backup phone I had with them for many years until they cancelled the remaining minutes. Obviously, the switch to GSM also rendered the original Moto E rather useless.
For many MVNOs, "CDMA/GSM" is code for the underlying carrier (which many MVNOs are contractually prevented from revealing, instead saying things like "on America's largest/fastest/whatever network")
In Tello's case, the transition from "CDMA" to "GSM" SIMs means a transition from SIMs for use in Sprint-compatible devices to SIMs for T-Mobile-compatible devices.
