Samsung S8 Android version not updating

I purchased my Samsung S8 from Verizon via a Sam's Club promotion a few years ago. After a couple of months, I switched carriers to Page Plus. I recently noticed that my last system update was June 2017, G950USQU1AQEF, so I'm still on Android 7.0. Every time I've manually checked for a system update I get the message your Samsung SM-G950U is up to date. Are OTA updates not received because I switched carriers from Verizon to Page Plus? What are my options to update to the current version?

I don't think it is possible to update your phone to Android 11 or any new security updates. I had an Android 9 plus that updated to Android 10 and I think that was the last Android update I would ever see for that phone. Typically, Android phones get 2 OS updates during their lifespan. My last security update on that S9 plus was over a year old when I replaced it with my new S21 phone.
    Just another day in paradise.....

No official updates are available for that model anymore.

Your only option is to root it and install a custom ROM based on a newer Android version.

Check XDA Developers forums for your model.

No different than buying a car. Every so often, new features become available that are simply not available for older models. Just have to buy another new car to get those features but nothing preventing someone from driving their older car for years to come.

We recommend you to flash the unlocked rom with Odin (G950U1) the issue will be resolved and you will receive updates regularly. You will need a windows pc and usb to do that.
