It is not important at all. No one really cares for this.
I am using TMobile non-hotspot plan (unlimited data t-zone) for hotspot for over 10 years

Just because you don't care. Others like myself do care.....

Yeah, just because you have a grandfathered plan and skirt the system.... does not mean you are in any majority at all.

I'm betting less than 5% of T-Mobile customers are still clinging to that plan, and the work required to make non-hotspot plans work for the rest of us just is not worth it. I do not like having to use an odd phone with limited support, nor having to root/modify the phone settings for a more mainstream device to just avoid paying for something.

Not to mention, all of my work apps immediately quit if I jailbreak/root the phone, and I'm not interested in needing to carry a 2nd or 3rd device in my bag just because I want to be "cheap"
T-Mobile: Magenta Amplified (airline employee plan)
AT$T: $50 Unlimited Elite Prepaid promo (for more “rural” areas)

The YouTube link there goes to a video about AT&T's tablet plan. Where's the info on the upgrade of Sprint's hotspot plan that you refer to?
