I read about this a few days ago, but I thought it might have been a stupid April Fool's thing.

They had floated the idea back in January , but made it official now.

WOW. The end of an era. Not quite like Nokia, but still. Lots of folks had LG flip phones back in the day. I’ve had my share of LG phones over the last two decades and still have a K31 from HSN. Their market share has definitely been getting smaller and smaller so I’m not completely surprised but it’s still kinda sad.

Not many good alternative phones for me. I don't like Moto phones because their sound volume of the calls are too low for me, and I don't like Samsung's arrangement of the settings, can't easily find what I need to do.

I've pretty much gone with the HSN or eBay Tracfone LG econo-bundle of the moment since the LG840 feature phone was TracFone's leading tech. Doubt they made much if any money off my phone purchases, but the generally positive experience helped justify laying out big bucks for an LG washing machine, a TV, and dehumidifier, so there is that.

It's hard to compete on high end phones and tough to make money on the low end ones, but sad to see them go.

I have used and liked Lg phones over the years. My current daily driver is a Samsung with a Moto for a backup phone. However, I still have my beloved Phoenix 2 in a drawer. Hate to see the loss of a big player in the cell phone market.

Is cheap and compatible with Verizon going to be a problem? Not counting Alcatel.

There goes half inventory of HSN Tracfone phones

Although recently upgraded from LG Fiesta2 to new LG Rebel K31, still miss Fiesta2 as I had it for two years. Its been dropped, rained on and screen cracked, but it is still going strong. Not to mention its awesome long holding battery charge.

I'm still using two Fiesta 2s on PPC, and probably won't look at replacing them for another year.

It might be time to get my last LG... I might look at the unlocked ones. There are a couple of them that I saw on Best Buy.

I saw the Phoenix 2 for 69 on Walmart website but it's so old it had to be a refurb.

I expect the price to go up on the popular movers from LG.

On the other hand, I would never buy anything from a company that has gone out of business. (I know LG hasn't gone out of business, but their phone division certainly has been shut down). How can I trust a company to support any of their products if the company is shut down? The prices of LG phones should go down, IMO.
