Is the IMEI # the account #?

I'm porting over to Verizon prepaid and am wondering what the account number is now? Is it the phone number or the IMEI number? I'm trying to avoid calling Page Plus. I have read that it was the phone number for years and recently it was switched to the IMEI?

    Thanks!

Please post the answer when you confirm whatever you use works.

This has been asked many times and the answers vary over time like you mentioned.
Those that have asked before never come back to the thread and tell how they made out. Thx

The best suggestion is to contact your current provider to confirm the account #. Not a good idea to assume it is or isn't the IMEI # without confirming.
    Just another day in paradise.....

I called Page Plus and talked with support (They answered immediately), and confirmed with them that the account number is the IMEI number on my SIM card.

    So there we have it.

Thanks for sharing that. Should be helpful for others asking the same question.

Actually the IMEI # is stored in the handset, not the SIM card. The easiest method to find the IMEI # is to dial *#06# on the phone. The SIM Card # matches the ICCID instead. These are not the same # nor the same amount of digits.

You are correct. It is the number on the SIM card.

Also thanks for the info. For SIMS that's a pretty long number.

Just confirming that I just chatted in with PP and they told me the account number for porting is the IMEI of the current phone on my account (which is also the phone used to activate the current SIM, so double-check your account with chat) and the PIN is the security PIN I set up for chatting in.

Which is it then for Page PlusCellular? Is the account number the Number On the SIM card? Or is it the IMEI number OF THE DEVICE?

I am sure you are saying contradictory things about the account number (for Page Plus Cellular). One of these might be the correct answer to what you tried to say.
    Account Number is
    [*]ICCID on the SIM Card
    [*]IMEI number of the device
    [*]maybe something else[/LIST]

What PP chat just told me is that my account number is the IMEI of the device. In my case, it's the active device, and the same device used to activate the line.

Sounds like we're back to square one on this topic. I thought I read somewhere that if it's a branded phone it's the imei. If it's a BYOP it's the last 15 of the sim#. Juries out.

As a data point the phone in question for me is a Tracfone-branded LG Classic Flip, with IMEI reported as account number. So your theory could be correct.
