You might have to do a system reset and selectively add your applications to the phone. Does your phone have an SD card slot ? If so, try moving applications to the SD card instead of the phone memory.

Try clearing the cache in settings. It's surprising how much memory this can eat up.

Dump your browser history, examine stored texts, voice phone call logs, more things of that nature. If you're using an email client app, check that you're not downloading too many messages to your device. These can take up huge amounts of storage if you aren't already in the habit of purging them regularly.

I know I got this with lots of the cheaper phones. I could not figure it out with the Samsung phones.

I know Android has adoptable storage. So you can use a microSD card as internal storage. The only issue is some phones have this disable.

With the Samsung phones that I have used, I finally gave in and went with a mid-range phone with lots of internal storage with a microSD card.

That is a 4 GB storage phone. I was using something similar until recently. They have gotten to be a challenge to keep running. You can't have many apps, pictures, music files.

I would do a factory reset, start fresh and delete all the unneeded apps, then install any few desired apps. You may have to pass on updating apps. That is where mine were running out of storage.

As someone mentioned, clear cache. I used to do mine once a month. More modern versions of Android do it somewhat automatically.
