    Tracfone to provide Nationwide 5G?

I was just on Trac’s site after browsing Red Pocket and the main banner said “Tracfone now supports nationwide 5G on Americas largest network!”. The US map logo was red so definitely Verizon.

When I tried reloading the site that banner was gone. I’m thinking this is an up coming change that may have been released too soon or was tripped because of cookie in my browser from Red Pocket. Any one know anything about this?

Wouldn’t get too excited. 5G nationwide is just spectrum sharing with LTE currently, no faster speed although latency can be better.

I don't use much data anyway so faster speed isn't important to me but better coverage from the additional radios could be.

Just cleared my cookies and the banner is back so looks like this is current. Hope Trac's CSRs can handle it.

So maybe 5G is one of those New! More! Better! things that 99% of people won't find relevant.

To be honest, 5G is such a battery drain that if Tello supported it on my iPhone 12 Pro Max I would turn it off and use LTE. Coverage should be quite similar to LTE anyway on DSS.

I have a TFW ATT SIM and I get 5G on my 4a 5G device and pretty good speeds (70+mbps).

LOL, probably. I’m just wondering if it’s being driven by the Verizon buyout.

I’m wondering if you’ll need to have Trac provision for it.

I've got a Safelink TFW T-Mobile sim in an unlocked S20 FE 5G. The highest speed test I've recorded is 560 Mbps down. It's only in a certain part of Indianapolis.
