    iPhone 6 - Limited Use

We have a 40+ year old home phone number. The majority of our phone calls are made/received on our iPhones. I would like to keep the old phone number for about a year until I'm sure I've updated the number with everyone of importance, i.e., medical, old family, financial, etc. I was thinking of porting the number to one of RedPocket's low cost annual plans. I currently have an iPhone 6 that is not being used (I am aware it is no longer supported by Apple) and wondered if that is feasible? The phone would be used only for incoming calls - no texting, data, etc.

It is iffy whether you can use it on an ATT MVNO. Many of them require at least the 6s.
But if T-Mobile is good in your area (not requiring band 12 or 71), you should be able to use it there if unlocked. Or a Verizon MVNO. RP supports both..
iPhone 12 Pro is my current primary phone. And also have a Galaxy a10e as a backup travel phone.

I'm currently using the iPhone SE 2016 version on a PagePlus paygo plan.
I have several religious and historical books for sale in my Bonanza booth.

For volte purposes on att Mvnos that is comparable to the 6s. There were some issues with the 6 since couldn’t run the latest iOS.
