    Advice on upgrading my device?

First off thanks in advance for taking the time to read this post and to give me some help/advice.

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ that I've had since it released in 2018. Which now it's going to be 4 years next year since I purchased the device, so I think it's time to start considering upgrading my device.

So should I wait to see what phones like the Google Pixel 6 is going to be like in the reveal on 10/19 (which rumors have it that it's going to be a great phone and a big upgrade from the 5), or the next Galaxy phone next year is going to be like before making a purchase? Or should I just not hesitate and go for a phone now? Also what phone now or in the near future do you recommend that I should purchase? Which my last handful of phones we're Samsung Galaxy devices that I used to upgrade yearly, so maybe now it's time for me to get away from Samsung and go to another Android manufacturer. I'm just stuck I'm deciding on what to do and what device lol.

I am using the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G and previously had the Galaxy S9+. I do know that the Galaxy S22 is about to be announced officially by Samsung and you can do an internet search for early information about it. Rumor has it that the base model S22 will see a price cut of almost $300 cheaper than the S21 when it was released. If you buy directly from Samsung, they have had some very nice trade-in values for prior models.

Rumor has it that the S22 may come with Android 12 installed or at least one of the first models that will be able to upgrade to the new OS.
    Just another day in paradise.....

Thanks for your advice. I'm going to look into it and compare it with the Google pixel 6 and go from there. I've had Samsung Galaxy phones for a long time and I used to upgrade a yearly for 2-4 models prior to the S9+. I was just thinking that maybe it's time to look at other devices and not just go directly for the newest Samsung Galaxy device which I used to just do that lol.

So here's an update to this post. I ended prekrdering the Pixel 6 Pro on the 19th from T-Mobile and it's going to arrive to me on the 28th. Which I hope I'm making the right decision by going with the new Pixel.

Well the Pixel 6 is going to have it built into the phone when I receive it next week, which they said that in the official announcement. Also they guarantee OS updates for the next 3 years at least and they guarantee security updates for the next 5 years at least. Plus Android 12 is going to have some exclusive features that are only available on the Pixel and not on any other device. Plus Pixel devices are known to have added features come out throughout the lifecycle of the device as well. I've had multiple Samsung Galaxy devices and I still have a Galaxy S9+. Which Samsung never really puts out any major new features into the OS for specific devices over time like the Pixel. Plus the Pixel is always known to get the newest updates before mostly any other Android branded device.

Which to be honest with you I think that the new Pixel phone including the Tensor chip inside their phone is revolutionary for cell phones. I think that Samsung is just being repetitive and repeating themselves. Which I haven't seen any major improvements and or advancements including with new features built into the OS in a long time. They're starting to remind me of Apple by doing minimal updates to their devices and just pushing out a new OS with maybe with a new design for the OS and that's it. Which I've never owned a Pixel phone before in my life, and I've always had many different Galaxy phones for years (including updating yearly for a while until the S9+). Which I've never been this excited before about getting a new phone, so instead of repeating themselves and or copying what someone else is doing Google is trying to be revolutionaries down to their Hardware that they put into the phone as well.
