Chromebook Bundle (with TW) in TracFone Store

Just ran across this today (out of stock) but it's in the TracFone store:

    https://shop.tracfone.com/shop/en/tr...chool-in-box-2

If it works as any other phone, it may be a unique way for some of us to cash out some of our TracFone rewards. I'm not sure if the $50 Total Wireless hotspot can then be downgraded to any other plan after first month -- because Total Wireless has different plans it seems and the $50 is a promotional offer to begin with.

It'd be nice to know more details about the Chromebook, make/model, etc.

I see the correct page for a moment before it redirects go the normal phone listing.

I think it's an error. TW stuff on the TF site?

Maybe getting ready for Black Friday and accidentally visible for a few days.

Tried TW site instead (manually changed the URL)

    https://shop.totalwireless.com/shop/...chool-in-box-2

    Didn't redirect.

It didn't redirect me. It stayed at the tracfone web site and I could look more at the bundle details.

You definitely have to make sure of the value for Chromebook deals.

I recently got 2 of the following for $59 each when they were clearing them out at the local WM stores. I'm not sure why they were clearing them out locally, since they're still listed at $215 on walmart.com. In my opinion, it's barely worth $59; certainly not $215!

    ASUS C423 14" Celeron 4GB/64GB Chromebook, 14" HD Nano-Edge Display, Intel Celeron N3350, 4GB DDR4, 64GB eMMC, Chrome OS, C423NA-WB04 (Google Classroom Ready)

Brickseek shows they were clearanced at all the stores near me too.

MSRP is $300 and Amazon has the $215 price as well.

Hard to say on the value without using. Think of a 14" 64GB tablet with a keyboard.
I know I've paid a lot more for 7 tablets. But I have no interest in Chromebooks so haven researched them.

Yep, that's why I wanted to find out the make/model of the one in the bundle. I did a quick search on "Chromebook 11.6" and there were so many models with that screen size.

Yup, its the TracFone site being TracFoney -- which means it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I'm guessing its not a *great* value on its own (probably based on MSRP of the Chromebook + $50 HotSpot (Device) + $50 HotSpot Service + The Headphones). If I had to guess the MSRP of the Chromebook will be $149-$199, actual value will be YMMV but a lot less.

Anyway, if it does come back into stock I may be the guinea pig because I have a lot of TracFone Rewards points and I'll just redeem at the 20k level for $300 credit and buy this and a Moto E or something.

Well it shouldn't be in the TF site since it's a TW hotspot and plan.

That's why I tried the TW site.

You're probably right and its just a side effect of the same underlying software powering all their brands (Why we see Straight Talk rewards rates in the animated banners for TracFone, while it's not as good on TracFone). Given that its a _Total Wireless_ hotspot, I also guess its just a mistake it shows up on TracFone.

    I guess we'll see....

If you are looking at Chromebooks, it's good to check the auto update expiration date for that model. If it's close to the date, then you will get stuck with an obsolete Chromebook that will not be getting updates.

Alex at TracFone PM me that this is a confirmed glitch and only available on Total Wireless.

One of many PMs recently and this one was actually helpful!
