Why no Voice Isolation capability during cellular phone calls?
Hi Folks. Just curious if anyone knows the underlying reason why the Voice Isolation Mic Mode isn't an option during cellular phone calls and if it ever may become available. I am wondering if there are technical or licensing limitations. I called and asked Apple tech support, but they didn't have an answer.
I have since posted to multiple other forums, called and emailed Apple again, and asked around quite a bit, but unfortunately nobody has an answer. Fingers-crossed that it will be included in a future update. If anyone has additional details (or knows where else to check), I am still very interested.

I read that Apple may be doing away with this feature and that it is no longer being offered but that is only what I have been reading on Apple Insider and 9-to 5 Mac etc.
I never really had it switched on nor have I understood what it really did.
Was it supposed to eliminate background noise to the caller you are speaking to or was it supposed to do that to your own earpiece? As a result, I never had it turned on.

Wow, I hope not. It's a game changing feature that I now depend upon daily so that folks I'm on VoIP conference calls with at work don't hear the clatter of my mechanical keyboard when I'm taking notes and need to be un-muted to speak.
Can you please link to any specific articles/sources you've seen about it potentially going away?

It substantially reduces the background noise that the person you're talking to on the other end of the line can hear and helps them to better hear your voice. Handsets have been able to do a decent job of this for years, but the Voice Isolation feature extends that capability to speakerphone and bluetooth headsets.
Ok Personal observation: I have an iPhone 13 Pro running 15.2.1 and the feature is not there. I also have and keep active my iPhone X used as a testing/developer device and the feature IS still there on the X.
My wife has an 11 Pro and she also has the feature.
Just so we are talking about the same feature - is this the one where you go to: SETTINGS-->Accessibility--->Audio/Visual-->Phone Noise Cancellation?
If I confused the 2 features - please accept my apologies.

Interesting. I was unaware of the feature you're describing. That sounds like how much of your own voice comes back through the earpiece which is a bit of an art and science in it's own right. When I'm on a call, my AirPods Pro and Bose QC35s for example have a very different feel regarding how much of my own voice they let me hear through their mic.
This is the one I was referring to in my original post:
