    Unsubscribe from TracFone marketing texts

My mom who I gave a TracFone is complaining about the marketing texts. I just ignore them, but she apparently wants them to stop, so I went to her account and tried to click unsubscribe in the profile -- but no matter what browser I pick (Chrome, Edge, IE) I can not get the options to save from the profile screen.

Is it just me? Can others change their preferences?

Yep, I tried several times too and never got it to change. But you can reply with "Stop" and it seems to stop more messages. If I remember correctly it may take a couple of weeks to take effective.

Just wondering, are the marketing texts coming from TracFone or another source?

I can't save edited communication preferences.

Can't seem to access it from app.

Got one yesterday. It came from short code 77089.

    https://www.textingworld.com/short-code/usa/77089.html

"The SMS short code 77089 was registered on 6/30/15 for Tracfone Marketing Alerts."

That part is wider than other parts.
There is probably a scrolling bar at the bottom of the screen.

    Not on my laptop browsers.

Doesn't work on Samsung browser on Samsung/Android phone either.

Try reducing the text size (zoom) so more will fit in.

Like others I can't find anyone to actually save marketing preferences anywhere.

And it seems like TracFone opts everyone in by default. Yes, she sent 'STOP' but then got the message it may incur charges, which in turn is because its 'STOP' to a short code... it became a whole thing with my mother. But its done now, and hopefully in two weeks she will stop bothering me about being bothered by TracFone.

It's just slightly wider than the other parts... looks odd since it's the only part with this width.

Maybe it's always been like that.

I did. It's done and she did send the STOP text but really, the website should have a way to opt out -- or even have us actually opt in. But I suppose on the TracFone universe of things to fix, it will be pretty far down the list.

Just block the number from the Messages app.

FYI, my mom sent the STOP message and it worked, and on the website on her account it now shows her unsubscribed to SMS alerts. So while the website doesn't let you stop SMS messaging, you can stop it via SMS and the website should reflect the opt out. Still silly TracFone won't let you update it there, but a relatively minor annoyance.
