    The VoLTE changes

Happy New Year all. I've been away from the forum for some years now and am rusty to say the least on keeping up with the TF ins and outs. My wife and I both use Moto G8+ handsets with ATT SIM cards on TF for over a year now. She recently got the notice that here phone won't work on TF after 2/22. I got her a replacement phone that should be here soon, but my confusion starts where I have the identical phone and my # checks out as ok to continue working after 2/22? The only thing I can figure is I used to play the SIM switch from an older LG Treasure, then a Moto G4+ and perhaps TracFone thinks I'm still using the LG Treasure? Any advice or help is appreciated because I think my headset may become inoperative in a couple of months although the service and sales depts assured me my phone number will be fine.

The reps who assured you that your phone will continue working probably relied on the same information that assumed you're using a different phone. Try texting the word FOUR to 611611 and see what it sends back. It can be either the last 4 digits of your BYOP SIM number or the IMEI tied to that SIM. If it's an IMEI that's not your current G8+, then it's another phone that you used previously.

Plus, I think Moto G8 was not called the G8 in the US. I think they did not include the "8" in the US models.

So if you have true model numbers, not the model names, that might help out more tho.

Even when I looked really fast, the G8+ was not an US model.

No they are not US models but they've worked fine and still are.

You might need to read this: https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1324171/

There is a PDF with a listing model numbers.

The only G8+ on the current ATT compatibility list for after Feb 22 is the XT2019-2. Yes they work fine on ATT now, but not after Feb 2022. (Unless ATT changes their list or extends the deadline.)

Providing your model numbers would likely clear this up.

Thanks for the info. They are both identical models. Motorola XT-2019-2. Moto G8+.

You might want to check FOUR on 611611 like hpham said.

If it has the last four of your SIM card, it might be a mistake.

If it has the last four that is not your SIM, it might be last four of the IMEI of the phone.

If those do not match up, it might be they are going by an old phone that you used on that line in the past.

The Moto XT-2019-2 is on both of these whitelists:
    AT&T Whitelist 1

    AT&T Whitelist 2

So, it's your wife's line that's wrongly identified as non-compatible post 3G-shutdown. Text FOUR from that phone to 611611 and see what info is sent back.

Do you think changing the SIM in my wife's phone would work. They're already sending a Samsung Galaxy AO2s as a replacement, but I wish my 68 yr old wife didn't have to start using a new brad I'd phone at this time.
